Frequently Asked Questions

How do you help students organise their thoughts when explaining topics?

We teach students simple thinking structures and frameworks that help them organise information clearly and logically. Depending on their age and level, students learn how to:

  • Identify key points
  • Sequence ideas clearly
  • Expand on explanations
  • Give relevant examples
  • Stay focused on the topic

The goal is not just to help students “talk more,” but to help them explain ideas in a way that is organised, understandable and engaging.

Each communication skill focuses on a different objective. In informative speaking, students learn how to explain ideas clearly, logically and accurately. The focus is on clarity, structure and helping the audience understand the topic. Storytelling focuses more on creativity, imagination and emotional engagement, while debate focuses on persuasion, argument-building and responding to opposing viewpoints. Although the skills overlap, each class develops different aspects of communication and thinking.

Parents receive feedback when there are observations worth sharing, whether areas for growth or progress worth celebrating. Examples of feedback include:

  • Clarity of explanation
  • Thought organisation
  • Confidence and delivery
  • Ability to elaborate on ideas
  • Participation and engagement during class

We aim to provide observations that are constructive, practical and relevant to each child’s stage of development. Feedback is shared informally – through a quick chat at pickup, a WhatsApp message, or a written note, depending on what works best for the family.

Occasionally, students may be encouraged to prepare short topics, observations or speaking tasks outside of class. However, we generally keep home practice manageable and age-appropriate. More importantly, we encourage parents to create opportunities for natural conversation at home by asking open-ended questions and giving children space to explain their thoughts independently.
Informative speaking helps students learn how to organise ideas clearly, elaborate on answers and explain topics confidently – all of which are highly useful for oral examinations and school presentations. Students also practise speaking under mild pressure, responding more independently and communicating in a structured way, which often supports classroom participation and academic communication more broadly.
