Some children love talking the moment they walk into a room. Others prefer to watch quietly before joining a conversation. Both are good. Each child has their own way of talking and all children can learn to speak with more confidence with help. The Voice House mission is to help kids see that there’s nothing to be afraid of about public speaking. With lots of help, games and hands-on activities they learn to organise their thoughts, speak confidently and enjoy sharing their thoughts. Our public speaking for kids programme is designed to make communication feel natural, enjoyable and rewarding from the very first lesson.

Every Child Has a Voice Worth Hearing

Children communicate every day. They ask questions, tell stories, explain ideas and share exciting moments with family and friends. As they grow older, they are also expected to present projects, participate in discussions and speak confidently in front of classmates.

For many children, these situations can feel challenging. It is not because they have nothing to say. Often, they simply need more opportunities to practise speaking in a positive environment.

That is exactly what we aim to provide. Instead of asking children to memorise speeches, we encourage them to think, speak and express themselves naturally. Over time, they begin to realise that speaking confidently is a skill they can develop, just like reading, writing or playing a sport.

What Is Public Speaking for Kids?

Public speaking for children is not about standing on a stage delivering long speeches. It is about helping children become comfortable expressing themselves in different situations.

Sometimes that might mean introducing themselves to a new class. On another day, it could be telling a story, presenting a school project or sharing an opinion during a discussion.

These everyday speaking experiences gradually build confidence that stays with them long after the lesson ends.

What We Focus On

Each lesson has activities that help children improve different areas of communication, and while we do that, we make sure that the experience is fun.

Why Public Speaking Matters

Communication is one of the few skills children use throughout their lives. A child who feels comfortable speaking often finds it easier to ask questions in class, contribute during group work and build friendships.

That confidence doesn’t appear overnight. It grows little by little. Sometimes it starts with answering one question during class. Sometimes it starts with introducing themselves to a new friend. Those small moments eventually become bigger opportunities.

Many parents tell us they originally joined because their child was shy. Months later, they notice their child volunteering answers in school or confidently speaking with relatives during family gatherings. Those everyday changes are often the most meaningful.

Supporting Better Academic Performance

School today is very different from what it was years ago. Students are expected to explain their ideas, work in teams and present projects in front of classmates. Good communication has become just as important as understanding the subject itself.

When children feel confident expressing themselves, they often become more willing to:

Answer questions during lessons

Participate in classroom discussions

Explain their thinking clearly

Present school projects

Work confidently with classmates

These are practical skills that continue to benefit them throughout their education.

Learning How to Speak with Confidence

Speaking confidently is not about having the loudest voice. It is about helping children communicate clearly while feeling comfortable being themselves.

Throughout the programme, children gradually learn how to:

Slow down when speaking

Pronounce words clearly

Make eye contact naturally

Stand confidently

Speak with expression instead of rushing

Our coaches understand that every child learns differently. Some children are ready to speak straight away. Others prefer to observe first.

Both approaches are respected because confidence develops differently for every learner.

Storytelling That Feels Natural

Ask children about their favourite holiday or an exciting weekend, and many of them will happily tell a story.

Storytelling gives children a simple way to organise their thoughts while developing creativity and confidence.

Rather than memorising scripts, children learn how to describe events, explain ideas and keep listeners interested. As they become more comfortable, their stories become clearer, more organised and more enjoyable to listen to.

Developing Strong Presentation Skills

Talking is not the same as showing. Children should also be able to structure their thoughts, begin topics clearly and finish confidently. We teach kids how to work on these skills in small, manageable steps.

We don’t expect perfect presentations, we look for improvement over time.

Kids will learn to:

Make easy presentations

Arrange ideas logically.

Don’t try and remember what to say, just speak naturally.

Use body language wisely

Finish with confidence

These helpful habits will serve you well when you’re presenting in class and other times when you have to speak with people.

What Happens During Class?

Children learn best when they are actively involved.

That is why our lessons include different activities every week to keep learning fresh and engaging.

Some favourites include:

Storytelling challenges

Show-and-tell sessions

Speaking games

Picture talks

Role-playing activities

Group discussions

Short presentations

Creative communication exercises

The atmosphere is relaxed, encouraging and interactive. Children are free to learn, make mistakes and improve without feeling pressured.

Families looking for public speaking classes for kids often tell us that their children look forward to coming back each week because every lesson feels different.

What Parents Often Notice

Progress doesn’t always happen in dramatic ways. Sometimes parents notice their child speaking a little louder. Sometimes they see them answering questions without hesitation.

Others mention that family conversations become longer because their child is more willing to share stories about school. These small changes often show that confidence is growing naturally.

Our public speaking courses for kids are designed to support this journey one step at a time, giving children regular opportunities to practise and improve in a positive environment.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. What age is suitable for public speaking lessons?

Children can begin learning communication and speaking skills from an early age. Activities are always adjusted according to their age and confidence level.

2. What happens if my child is shy?

Many children join our programme because they are naturally quiet. We never force participation. Instead, we encourage children gently until they feel ready to speak on their own.

3. Will these lessons help with school presentations?

Yes. Children learn practical speaking, storytelling and presentation techniques that they can apply during classroom activities and school projects.

4. How is your programme different from a typical speech class for kids?

Our lessons focus on real communication rather than memorising speeches. Children practise speaking through games, discussions, storytelling and interactive activities that reflect everyday situations.

5. What can parents expect after a few months?

Every child progresses differently, but many parents notice improved confidence, clearer communication, greater classroom participation and a willingness to express ideas more openly.

Looking for a holiday program for 7 to 9 year olds Singapore or a communication-focused programme for older students? The Voice House offers engaging holiday programmes for children aged 7–17, helping students build confidence through public speaking and interactive learning. Our summer programs for elementary and middle school children include creative, fun, and interactive activities designed to help them learn and build confidence. At The Voice House in Singapore, students can safely practise public speaking, share their thoughts and speak confidently with others. Our holiday programs are designed to impart important life skills to students through fun activities that promote critical thinking, teamwork and self expression. We help students fill their holiday schedule, but we help them enjoy a learning experience that supports their personal and academic development.

Why Holiday Programmes Matter for Primary & Secondary School Students

Our programmes are suitable for children aged 7–12, making them an ideal holiday camp for 10 to 12 year olds as well as younger primary school students. Activities are designed to suit different learning stages while building confidence and communication skills.

The primary and secondary school years are an important stage for developing confidence, communication and independent thinking. Students continue to develop their ability to express ideas clearly, work with others and develop skills to support academic success as well as everyday life in this time.

A holiday programme offers students the opportunity to continue their learning outside the classroom. It provides a different environment where they can sharpen their communication skills, make new friends, explore new ideas and develop practical skills that help them in school and in life outside of school.

At The Voice House, we concentrate on making students feel more comfortable speaking and expressing themselves. Some students naturally love to speak in front of people and others may need a little more encouragement. Students can gradually become more confident with regular practice and guidance. Our holiday programmes help students to develop:

Confidence in expressing ideas clearly

Stronger communication and listening skills

Critical thinking through speaking activities

Teamwork and collaboration

Leadership and independent thinking

We believe every student learns differently. That is why our activities are planned to allow students to participate at their own comfort level while still encouraging them to try something new.

Activities Included

Our holiday programmes include a range of communication and public speaking activities that allow students to learn through participation. Each activity is designed to make speaking fun and help students learn important life skills.

Activity

Skills Developed

Public Announcement

Clear speech, voice projection and confidence when addressing an audience

Informative Talks

Organising thoughts, presenting information and speaking clearly

Storytelling Sessions

Creativity, imagination and expressive communication

Impromptu Speaking

Thinking quickly, building confidence and sharing ideas naturally

Debate Skills

Reasoning, expressing opinions and listening to different viewpoints

Persuasive Speaking

Presenting ideas effectively and learning how to influence others

Special Occasion Speeches

Training in formal speaking and preparation of speeches for events

Activities are designed to suit the learning needs of primary and secondary school students. Our holiday camps for teens Singapore provide older students with structured debates, persuasive speaking and leadership activities. Students looking for a public speaking camp for teenagers Singapore gain practical communication skills that prepare them for school presentations and future success.

Communication & Social Development Benefits

Communication is about more than just speaking. It’s about listening carefully, articulating your ideas and creating meaningful bonds with others as well.

Our programs offer students many opportunities to speak with their trainers and other students. In discussions they learn how to wait their turn, listen carefully and respond with thought.

These activities can help students feel more comfortable in school and social settings when they need to answer questions, work on group projects, or give presentations.

What we do with students helps them:

Talking confidently in front of other people

People talking actively, listening

Speaking your mind respectfully

Working well together in groups

Share ideas with confidence

Regular practice helps students become better communicators and prepares them for class discussions, presentations, leadership roles and everyday conversations.

Learning Through Interactive Activities

Students learn best when lessons are interactive and engaging. That is why our holiday programmes combine practical speaking activities, teamwork exercises and creative challenges, rather than using only traditional teaching methods.

Interactional activities such as speaking games and storytelling sessions offer students opportunities to develop their communication skills in a safe environment. They learn by participation, by practice and feedback and continuous improvement.

When activities are more fun and relevant, students are generally more interested and can retain more information. We want each session to be fun, but also beneficial, helping students develop skills that will serve them well in school and throughout life.

Daily Schedule

Our daily schedule is planned to provide a good balance between structured learning and interactive activities. Students have enough time to participate, practise and develop their communication skills throughout each session without feeling overwhelmed.

Time

Activity

Morning

Welcome activities and introduction games

Mid-morning

Speech activities, storytelling and communication exercises

Afternoon

Group presentations, creative activities and speaking practice

End of session

Sharing session and reflection activities

The schedule may vary by age group, program theme. But every session is carefully designed to address the educational needs of the students.

Safety & Student Care

It’s natural for parents to want their children to spend the school break in a place that is safe, caring and fun. At The Voice House we provide a positive learning environment where students are encouraged to participate with confidence and are coached by trained professionals.

Our trainers are there to help students with every task and motivate them to learn at their own pace. Students feel comfortable, they feel that they belong and are inspired. Every student is cared for and respected in each session.

In an encouraging atmosphere students can naturally gain confidence and have fun learning.

Parent Testimonials

Parents often share positive feedback after their children complete our holiday programmes. Many students become more confident speaking in front of others, participating in discussions and expressing their ideas clearly.

Many parents appreciate that our programmes aren’t all about keeping students busy during school holidays. They offer chances to build communication skills, increase confidence, make new friends and find personal strengths.

One of the most rewarding parts of our work at The Voice House is watching students become confident communicators both inside and outside the classroom.

Why Choose Public Speaking Holiday Classes?

Our holiday programs are not just a way to fill the time during school holidays.
During one of our 2-day holiday camp this June, the children spent time developing an important communication skill that many people overlook: stage presence.

When people think about public speaking, they often focus on what to say. However, how we present ourselves can be just as important as the words we use.

One of the exercises during the camp involved learning how to move naturally on stage. To an observer, it may have looked like the children were simply walking around. In reality, they were practising a skill that professional speakers, presenters, and performers use to appear more confident and engaging.

When we feel nervous, our bodies often react in predictable ways. Some people freeze and stand rigidly in one spot. Others fidget nervously or avoid eye contact.

Children are no different.

Many of our participants initially stood very straight and still whenever they stepped onto the stage. While this may seem like a sign of discipline, it is often a sign of nervousness. Standing too rigidly can make a speaker appear uncomfortable, which can affect both their confidence and their connection with the audience.

By teaching the children to move intentionally, we help them release tension and feel more relaxed. Simple movements such as taking a few steps, shifting position naturally, and using the stage space effectively can make a speaker look more confident and approachable.
